T-shirts and jeans, my forever uniform
It’s hard for me to think of a time in my life when every morning, my go to for the “what am I going to wear today” wasn’t my current favourite pair of jeans. Jeans, always jeans. I have worn many different jean brands over the years, high end to low end. My first pair of jeans that I bought with my own money when I was 14 was a pair of Lee jeans. I wore them out and they became patched and then cut offs. Interspersed during that time was a super cool pair of Seafarers; they were high waisted bell bottoms and they were amazing. Levi’s cords made several rotations and a cute pair of beige crushed velvet bell bottoms. I guess all of us that were teenagers in the late sixties and seventies were seriously into denim. So at the age of 64, I still feel like the most authentic version of myself is in jeans and a t-shirt. I have a good selection of plain t-shirts (always a perfect choice) and graphic t-shirts.
Let’s start with my favourite, the black Anine Bing tiger t-shirt. I knew I had to have it as soon as I saw it on the website. I have it in the original black and the newer white version. They are just fun to wear and look great under a blazer or leather jacket.
It is always good to have a ton of plain white tees and I do, but I also love this cream tee with cool wings on the back.
I try to shop for natural fibres. All of my Anine Bing t-shirts are 100% cotton or 100% linen and the one below is 100% silk. It drapes beautifully. I have decided to take a page from french girl style and wear black lingerie under my white t-shirts. Ooh Lala!
I like to have a selection of crew necks and V-necks.
These V-necks are 100% linen and I love to pair them with pretty camisoles that show their lace detail. All Anine Bing.
I came across these fun t-shirts on the Instagram account for Advanced Style. The t-shirts are a collaboration between Fanny Karst and Advanced Style’s Ari Seth Cohen. Next on my list is “Not Dead Yet” from their collaboration.
I found this fun t-shirt made by Ironic Lux through Instagram account @ironic_girl. They are 100% organic cotton and there are so many cool designs. I chose Coco Chanel on her cell phone but I need more. Check them out. I guarantee you will want at least one!
So there you have it. At 64 I’m just as inclined to pull on my favourite jeans and a fun t-shirt as I was in the 70’s. I wish I was more of a fashionista but I have to be true to my style. Anine Bing has really assisted me in my goal to be authentic to myself. Her designs reflect the past and the present equally and I’m so happy to have found her brand. Whatever your style, you be you! It seems to take away all doubt and pressure.
