London - Day Five - Buckingham Palace, Sketch, Liberty, Clos Maggiore and Les Miserables!

Our first stop today was Buckingham Palace which by a stroke of luck was changing the guard. Then a lovely walk through St. James Park. We saw a few sweet tributes to Queen Elizabeth II along the way.

This bird lady below was there when we walked through the other day as well. She probably does this every day.

Today I felt a bit like a food writer. We had not one, but two incredible dining experiences.

Lunch was at the Michelin starred restaurant called Sketch. The dining room we were in is called the Glade. Stunning decor, service and food experience. Just look at that bar!

The whole experience was so elevated that it is not surprising that the ladies’ room was something out of a movie.

We stopped in at Liberty and had a look at their Christmas decorations. I love the layout of this old store and find it a very relaxing place to shop. I found the Emma Bridgewater Border Terrier mug I had been looking for so was able to leave the store with a pretty purple Liberty bag. (yes, I’m THAT girl. and I keep the bag forever)

I think this might have been the first day we popped home to have a change of clothes before our evening

Clos Maggiore and Les Miserable were waiting!

The pictures below can only touch on how beautiful Clos Maggiore is!

A little word about dining at Clos Maggiore. From start to finish, it was elegant dining at its best. The decor, the ambiance, the service, and the food were all of the highest caliber. We were there as a pre-show dinner however we did not feel rushed at all. I think this would be the perfect place for a marriage proposal or anniversary dinner..

The thing to note about this show is that it is the reason this whole trip exists. The birthday gift to Ashleigh was to see Les Mis in London. This night was THE night to remember! It was a spectacular show. We have both seen Les Miserables more than once and every time is special Ashleigh’s first show was in New York City at age 12 and the role of Marius was played by Ricki Martin! This production did not disappoint.

The Sondheim Theatre is a stunning venue!

Well, that’s a wrap on this day. I am as reluctant to end this blog post as I was for this day to end in real life. London just keeps bringing the magic. xo
